Thanksgiving 2011

What a day we had this year for Thanksgiving. It all started bad when I had to work the night before, and Alan had to work on Friday. So we were going to drive up to my dad's house for the day and then come home that night. We woke up bright and early, and noticed that Henry wasn't feeling too hot. He kept grabbing onto his ear and saying, "owie". So we got ready, and drove to instacare. It was closed, so we ended up going to the emergency room. We paid 150 dollars for (literally) a 30 minute visit. So then we went to Walgreens to fill his prescription and come to find out we went to the wrong Walgreens. At this point I was ready to call it quits, but I was determined to make it to my dad's. We went and picked up Rachel and Matt (we were dropping him off so he could go to Richfield) and went to the Walgreens that was open. Well it was going to take 45 minutes to get the prescription and we were already running short on time so we decided to just leave and start the medicine the next day. We got on the road and I'm squished in the backseat between Rachel and Henry, maybe I should mention that I'm a little claustrophobic.. As the elevation rose, Henry's ear really started bothering him and he wouldn't stop crying. I felt so bad for my little dude, but was about ready to have an anxiety attack myself. We came to the decision to drop Matt off just past Beaver and to turn around and go home. When we got back in town we picked up Henry's ear drops and went home and put his pajamas on.

Aunt Rachie reading to Henry and getting some snuggles in.

Our Thanksgiving feast consisted of this frozen pizza. Yum yum!

I had made cupcakes the night before, so we did get something pumpkin that day.

Cheers!

Alan enjoying his meal on the couch! So formal!

I hate it when HJ is sick, but boy do I love the snuggle time I get.

I figured the one way that I could get myself in a better mood is to do a little Black Friday shopping. I knew exactly what I wanted to get Henry, and I could already see the look on his face on Christmas morning.

I stood in line outside of Kohls for about 45 minutes and when the doors opened there was a mad dash to the toys section. What's the cherry on the top of my day, you ask? This particular Kohls was not carrying the toy that I was going to get. Needless to say I walked out empty handed and ready to climb into bed and get this day over with.

Not a lot of things went right for us this Thanksgiving, but when I think back to the day I realize that I was still with people that I love and it doesn't matter that we didn't have a nice meal. We were together and that's all I really need.

Besides.. Alan and I made a mean breakfast the next day and I think that totally redeemed our frozen pizza dinner.

I'm thankful for my family and for the opportunity I have right now to be living with my mom and little sister. Henry is a lucky boy to be so close to his family and I wouldn't have it any other way. Happy Holidays everyone!
