Easter 2011

We had a very low key Easter this year, but it was still a nice day.

When Henry walked into the room and saw his easter basket, his eyes got really big and he said, "Ooooohhhhh!"

That was immediately followed by him shoving at least 3 jelly beans in his mouth.

My sweet mom left us our easter baskets so we wouldn't feel left out. It was filled with lots of candy, cute note cards, and some gardening stuff.

We gave Henry some army men in his basket, and watching him and Alan play is probably the cutest thing ever. Alan would make a sound, then Henry would mimick it back to the best of his ability.

Alan's 30th!

This year was a big birthday for Alan. And when I say big, I mean he's really old now.

So we went to the store and bought all his favorite snacks and invited some friends over.

Then the next morning I surprised him with a hot air balloon ride over Park City. It was such an amazing experience, and I definitely want to do it again!

I am still amazed by the size of the balloon. This is me looking into it while the crew tied the ropes together.

I seriously thought the flame was gonna burn Alan's eyebrows off. It came SO CLOSE to him.

The Jordanelle Lake

There is a tradition with hot air balloons that once you land you open a bottle of champagne. It started back when they first started flying and would land in the farmer's fields. They would offer the farmer a bottle of wine as a peace offering and to apologize for landing on their property. The wine eventually turned to champagne because it's a celebratory drink, and the orange juice is to spice it up a little.

Then they also give you a certificate for your first flight with a little poem:

A Balloonist's Prayer

The Winds have welcomed you with softeness.

The Sun has blessed you with his warm hands.

You have flown to high and so well,

that God has joined you in your laughter,

and He has set you gently back again

into the loving arms of Mother Earth.

I am blessed to have this amazing man in my life. Not only is he my best friend, but he's my lover, husband, and father to my children. Thank you for being my everything Alan.

Still just a little peanut, with a big head.

I wouldn't want him any other way.

The Party!

We had Henry's birthday party on April 16th, and it turned out to be quite the event. I tend to over do things and this party was no exception. I love planning parties, especially for my main little dude. The theme was monsters and we rented a bounce house. There was about 200 pictures taken that day, so I did my best to get as many on here as I could.

Candy bar! I am pretty sure that my son ate his body weight in swedish fish.. and it didn't help that everyone was helping him to it. I guess that's what happens when you are the birthday boy!

Henry was pretty wary of the bounce house at first, but after we got in there with him he grew to love it and freaked every time we tried to take him out.
