I have been getting A LOT of questions about this pregnancy, and I don't mind answering them at all. I thought I would answer some questions on here for those of you that check this blog and maybe don't get the chance to talk to me often. (Oh and I'm 10 weeks along today)
Q. How are you feeling?
A. There is a lot going with me mentally and physically. Physically I am exhausted. I didn't think it would be that hard to be pregnant and a momma to a toddler, but it is. I feel like I could sleep forever. Mentally.. I'm trying to prepare myself for the worst, but expecting the best. I have a GREAT team of doctors keeping a close watch on me. I've already had 2 ultrasounds, and another 2 planned in the next 6 weeks.
Q. Do you want a girl or a boy?
A. I honestly could care less this time. Last time we really wanted a boy, but this time I would pleased with either. Alan would like another boy, but I think a big part of that is because he's scared to be whipped to a little girl. :o)
Q. How many more do you want?
A. I'm thinking this little baby will complete our family.
Q. Were you trying, or was this an "oops"?
A. We were trying really really hard for this baby. After I had Henry I had some weird things going on with me, so we ended up going on fertility drugs and it took us about 6 months to get pregnant. I realize that isn't a long time to try, but considering I got pregnant with Henry after a week of trying, I thought it would be just as easy.
Q. What are the chances you'll deliver early again?
A. I've been told the chances are slim that it'll happen again. The doctor that I'm going to now (a specialist at the U of U) feels like it was a fluke incidence with Henry. With that being said, I am still considered high risk and will have to do some extra things to make sure this baby stays in the oven for the full 40 weeks. When I am 16 weeks pregnant I will start giving myself progesterone shots once a week for 20 weeks. I've heard it's not a pleasant shot (thinking my bum will be bruised for a long time) but it will be totally worth it. Also, they will be measuring my cervix every other week to make sure I'm not dialating. If I am, they will stitch close my cervix which is called a cerclage.
I can't think of anymore questions, but I am always open to answering more.
