12 Months..

Wanted to give proof of how skinny my child is. No, I did not pull his pants down nor did he pull them down. They just slid off his tiny little butt.

It makes me wonder how big a 1 year old is really supposed to be? Cuz Henry is 23 months old (20 months corrected) and these pants are for 12 month olds.

When I was trying ot get his picture, he wouldn't turn and look at the camera. Apparently he's shy.

We've recently added the Carnation instant breakfast shakes to his daily intake, and still adding a yogurt or pudding at the end of his lunch and/or dinner but it doesn't seem to be helping. He stepped on the scale the other day (I think we've given him a complex) and it said 22 pounds. We have an appointment for his 2 year well child next month so it'll be interesting to see where he is on the growth chart. But until then.. we are counting down the days till we are officially in the "terrible twos". Heaven help us.

St. George and Las Vegas

For Presidents Day weekend, we wanted to get out of snowy Salt Lake and down to some warm weather. So we packed up Henry J and headed on down the road to see Grammie and Grandpa.

Playing at the park with Aunt Annie.

Alan bought a remote control car and couldn't wait to test it out.

Rather than go down slides or play on the swings, Henry prefers playing with the woodchips.

When we were planning our trip to St. George, we saw that 311 was playing in Las Vegas. So we invited the Moser's to come down and play with us! We stayed at a new place called Rumor Boutique and had a great time.

The room was super modern and I loved how they decorated it.

Rickell also went down for the night so I had to get a picture of me and my two girls!

Sleepy Lana couldn't keep her eyes open once we got back to St. George!

(Remember that picture you posted of me dressed as "Grandma" in Mexico? Well, pay back is a son of a gun!)

Music

Henry J found my ipod tonight, and listened to music through headphones for the first time. I think it's safe to say he loves music as much as his dad and I do.

Things I Love

While this picture doesn't really give you an idea of how passionate Alan is about sports, it does show a facial expression other than passive. I love how he gets in his zone and isn't afraid to express emotions while his Steelers get tromped on at the Super Bowl. :o)

I love how little things make my husband very happy. These cupcakes were made just for him and even though it took my like 5 minutes to decorate, it made him super excited.

I love that Henry, in a room full of obnoxious kids, can zone out and do his own thing. He is VERY much like his father in that sense.

Family Dinner

My baby boy who never fails at making me laugh.

(And I'm sure you all love the fact that I FINALLY put the right date on my camera.)

Oreos

At the risk of making my family sound like a bunch of fat jacks, I'm gonna go ahead and dedicate this entire post to Oreos. I typically don't buy stuff like this for my house because then I'll just eat it. It seems contradictive because if you know me at all, then you know I'm constantly baking. But I always give away anything I bake so it kind of evens out. And in all honesty, who doesn't like a big glass of milk and an Oreo every so often?

One night when we were playing cards Alan decided to get CRAZY and stack 3 double stuf Oreos.
Henry J participating in his first "dipping the Oreo in milk" experience.

Don't let this face convince you of anything other than he LOVED it. But refer to my previous post about the faces he pulls when a camera comes out. .

Squishy Face

Henry's 2nd birthday is coming up, so that means I will be scheduling a photographer to take pictures of my big boy. But I have some serious concerns about that, because as much as I love his squishy face, I'm not prepared to spend good money on a bunch of photos with him looking like this. .

Or this..

And definitely not this..

Love your face Henry J.

21 Months

We've been working on the whole "feed ourselves" thing, and so far it hasn't been that bad. Today was funny cuz I gave him some chocolate pudding and it was EVERYWHERE. Oh well I suppose, it gave me a couple minutes of silence and those minutes are treasured around here.

Love his funny faces! Everytime a camera appears, his cute smiley face is morphed into something that I would do on purpose to ruin a shot. Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

So I wanted to take a minute and vent some frustrations. Being a parent is a tough job, and I have never doubted myself more but when it comes to raising this little boy of mine. Long story short, we took HJ to one of his NICU follow up appointments (always a joy..) and when they weighed him he was only at 20 lbs 11 oz, putting him below the 3rd percentile for his corrected age (18 months). As a mother, I was instantly on the defense for Henry. Anyone who sees this kid eat knows that he can put away some serious food and isn't really that picky. But when I say that he is constantly on the go, that's what I mean. His metabolism must be through the roof and even with me feeding him anything and everything, he still has managed to not gain any weight. So when the doctors tell me that we need to focus more on feeding him, and give me a hand out of foods with higher calories, my momma bear claws wanna come out and I want to tell them that I'm doing the best I can. Alan reassured me that they are only doing their job and not to take things so sensitive, but when it comes to Henry I can't just brush things off my shoulder. So lately Henry's diet has been consisting of chocolate milk with just about every meal, pudding and ice cream for desserts, lots of grilled cheese sandwiches and anything else that I know has high calories. I know that I am doing the best I can for this kid, but when I feel like I'm being doubted it really puts me in a funk. And in talking to other mothers who have really small kids, they all said that they haven't had any issues with the doctors. So I don't know if him being a preemie has anything to do with it, but I can't help but think so. After Alan and I take him to his next NICU follow up appointment to see the speech therapist (cuz our little dude isn't talking) we won't be going back. I don't see a need for him to see any other doctors besides his pediatrician.

So there's my vent for the time being. If any of you, assuming I have followers, have any stories or suggestions, I'd love to hear them.
